Battling third at home for Ferrand-Prevot

Pauline Ferrand-Prevot put in a superb, gutsy ride to battle back from illness and secure third place at the Mountain Bike World Cup round in Les Gets.
The world champion was forced to come through from deep in the pack after being unable to compete in Friday’s Short Track race.
After a strong start she was quickly up with the lead group at the start of the second of six laps. Roared on by her home fans, Pauline was quickly in the mix, but lost time after a slip on a root in the woods on lap three.
A lap later the race came back together briefly at the front, with Ferrand-Prevot part of a chase group which reeled in solo leader Puck Pieterse. Also present was Mona Mitterwallner, who made her escape late on to make it back to back World Cup wins.
Ferrand-Prevot slipped back, but was able to show her class by launching a big acceleration to see off Haley Batten in the battle for third.
