Bernal on the front foot

Egan Bernal finished in the GC group to move up the overall classification after hectic end to stage five. 

Bernal was part of a chase group that finished behind solo leader Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma) who won the stage to take the overal lead. 

With a lack of cooperation in the group, Bernal attempted an audacious attack in the closing kilometres to steal a march on the other GC riders, but he was brought back. 

The GC riders sprinted for minor places, with Bernal finishing 11th to go 19th overall +3:06 on Vingegaard.
