Egan Bernal and Team INEOS put in a spirited ride on the final stage in Colombia, with the Tour de France winner taking third place on the summit finish.

Benefitting from strong turns from Brandon Rivera, Jhonatan Narvaez and latterly Richard Carapaz, Bernal pushed on into the final kilometres but was unable to hold off the riders on his wheel.

With EF Pro Cycling duo Daniel Felipe Martinez and Sergio Higuita taking stage and overall honours respectively Bernal was unable to push his way on to the overall podium, despite distancing Jonathan Caicedo (EF Pro Cycling) in the final kilometre.

Despite an unfortunately timed mechanical with 9km to go, Carapaz was strong enough to quickly return to the peloton and pull hard on the front for Bernal.
