Richard Carapaz moved up to second overall at the Giro d'Italia after great teamwork in tricky conditions on stage 11.

The team worked well to position Carapaz for an intermediate sprint in the second half of the race after safely navigating the Ecuadorian through a potential crosswinds section.

After Salvatore Puccio, Ben Swift, Pavel Sivakov and Jhonatan Narvaez had worked to keep the Grenadiers at the front of the peloton in tricky conditions with 85km to go,  the team maintained their work rate to create an opportunity to move up.

Narvaez led out Carapaz for the intermediate sprint with 76 kilometres remaining, earning the Olympic champion three bonus seconds to move him up to second from fourth on GC.

The Grenadiers then finished safely in the bunch to round off a successful day as Alberto Dainese (Team DSM) earned the stage victory.
