Carlos Rodriguez capped off a successful La Route d’Occitanie by securing second place overall.
 
The young Grenadier crossed the line safely on Sunday to make sure of the podium, on a final day that proving some exciting race on a hot and windy day in France.
 
The INEOS Grenadiers were among the teams who helped split the race apart in the crosswinds heading into the final 70km. Rodriguez was joined by Ben Swift and Kim Heiduk in a select GC group. After help from Laurens De Plus, Elia Viviani also regained contact with the front group with 45km to go.
 
Viviani sprinted to fourth place at the finish, with Rodriguez finishing in the pack to cement second, in addition to the young rider jersey.
 
Michael Woods (Israel – PremierTech) wrapped up victory following his success on Saturday’s queen stage, 1:16 ahead of Rodriguez.
