Criterium du Dauphine - Stage 6: Loriol-sur-Drome › Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse, 167.2km

The INEOS Grenadiers came close to grabbing another late stage win at the Dauphine with Tao Geoghegan Hart taking a close second on stage six.
The Brit accelerated hard heading into the final 300 metres, with teammate Geraint Thomas letting the wheel go behind. Despite opening up a gap, fast-finishing Alejandro Valverde launched off in pursuit and was just able to overhaul Tao at the line.
Geoghegan Hart had also been to the fore as attacks began to fire on the final climb with 2km to go. Michal Kwiatkowski had been setting the pace on the front, with Thomas sat in behind and Richie Porte also in the lead group.
A fast stage and a reduced bunch at the line saw Thomas and Porte move up to fourth and sixth respectively ahead of a final weekend in the mountains. Thomas sits just 13 seconds back on new leader Alexey Lutsenko (Astana-Premier Tech), with Porte just two seconds further back.
