Dennis storms to second Swiss win

Rohan Dennis powered to his second race win of the Digital Swiss 5 with an impressive climbing display on the final day.

Dennis set the pace from the start, took an early lead and was unable to be pegged back by any of his competitors in the early running, with Nico Roche (Team Sunweb) and Max Schachmann (Bora Hansgrohe) coming back into contention in the second half of the race.

In the final part of the race, Roche emerged as the biggest threat, but despite a large effort which reduced the gap to Dennis, he was unable to make up enough ground on the final climb as the World Time Trial champion measured his effort to claimed his second victory of the week.

Dennis’ second victory rounds off a strong week from Team INEOS, with two wins and two podium finishes across the five-race event.

I measured my effort to what he was doing and just kept a little bit in the tank in case he kicked in the end.”

“Today was a lot harder than stage one, but I had Nico chasing me and Schachmann as well and I went out quite hard and tried to hold on, but it wasn’t easy that’s for sure.

“I was doing a lot of calculations on the final climb to see if I could take some time from Nico in the slower parts, but he just kept going. I measured my effort to what he was doing and just kept a little bit in the tank in case he kicked in the end.”
