Duo in Algarve top five

Volta ao Algarve stage three: Lagoa (individual time trial), 20.3km

Wout Poels and David de la Cruz sit fourth and fifth overall respectively following the stage three time trial at the Volta ao Algarve.
The Team Sky pair retained their strong positions heading into the weekend despite conceding ground on the yellow jersey.
Poels is 37 seconds back on the yellow jersey of Tadej Pogacar (UAE-Team Emirates), with De La Cruz a further 20 seconds back on his teammate.

Stefan Kung (Groupama-FDJ) set the benchmark time of 24 minutes and 33 seconds, holding off Soren Kragh Andersen (Team Sunweb) by two seconds. Kragh Andersen’s time saw him elevate himself onto the overall podium but the Dane sits just one second ahead of Poels.
Ride of the Day

Tao Geoghegan Hart was the best-placed Team Sky rider on the day with an impressive time, good enough for eighth place in Lagoa.
