Pauline Ferrand-Prevot showed fantastic grit and determination on her race debut for the INEOS Grenadiers at Koppenbergcross.

Pushing through from a grid position deep in the field, Ferrand-Prevot was quickly up to ninth place in the opening exchanges of her first cyclo-cross race since early 2020.

The Frenchwoman had to battle back from a series of mechanical issues which caused her to lose time on the tough and unforgiving course. Dropping out of seventh place on the final lap, she eventually ran across the line in 12th place.

Despite not taking the early result she wanted, the current four-time world champion in off-road disciplines was encouraged by her form ahead of Sunday's European Championships.
After the race Pauline said: "Today it's true I didn't really know how I was going to be as I didn't take a break after the mountain bike season after my titles.

"I felt in good shape. I had some mechanical issues but felt fine, so that's a good omen."
