Grenadiers hold station ahead of Châtel test

Tour de France Stage 8: Dole › Lausanne, 186.3km.

Tom Pidcock led home the INEOS Grenadiers as he finished 10th in an uphill sprint which was won by Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma),

Geraint Thomas bounced back from an early setback, when he was caught up in a large crash in the peloton, to finish 11th on the stage and maintain third position overall.

Adam Yates and Dani Martinez finished closely behind in Lausanne to ensure the Grenadiers quartet maintain their overall positions ahead of Sunday's first mountain test.

Following the early crash in the bunch, the Grenadiers were attentive and well-positioned in the bunch, with a trio in the break unable to gain an advantage of more than a handful of minutes.

This caused another fast-paced stage with Luke Rowe playing a key role in positioning the team throughout, with support from Jonathan Castroviejo, Dylan van Baarle and Filippo Ganna.

It was Ganna who took to the front for the uphill final, ensuring the lead quartet were well-positioned ahead of a reduced bunch kick which saw Thomas, Yates, Pidcock and Martinez maintain their GC positions.
