Richard Carapaz and the INEOS Grenadiers are ready to hit the mountains after ticking off a potentially tricky eighth stage at the Giro d'Italia.

The peloton tackled a scenic circuit around Napoli,.with a breakaway staying clear to contest the stage win. For the team it was all about staying safe and conserving energy where possible, with Sunday's test looming large.

One of the Giro's toughest stages, the road to the Blockhaus summit finish features over 5000 metres of climbing, with the day set to give the GC a proper shake-up.

Carapaz and Richie Porte sit 10th and 12th respectively after being well looked after by their teammates during the first week.

Saturday also saw stage four in Hungary, with the race again ending in a bunch kick.

Elia Viviani showed a strong turn of speed to finish fifth after sprinting from deep in the pack. As in Italy, Sunday will see a big GC day with a summit finish, this time to decide the overall victory on the Grenadiers' first visit to the race.

Eddie Dunbar will be hoping to test himself out against his fellow climbers on the first category summit.
