Vuelta a España stage 1 (TTT): Utrecht › Utrecht, 23.3km.
The INEOS Grenadiers put in an excellent performance to finish second on the opening stage TTT at La Vuelta.
The Grenadiers had posted the fastest provisional time and were only beaten by Jumbo Visma, who went 13 seconds faster on the 23.3km stage, with Quickstep Alpha Vinyl one second behind the Grenadiers in third.
On his Grand Tour debut, Ethan Hayter finished as the best young rider and will wear the white jersey on stage two.

"It was quite a special race day. It was so noisy with the crowds along the course. It’s just a shame we finished second but it was a pretty nice atmosphere. Second is always a tough place to come but naturally it was a really good ride from us.
"For me, being a little bit of a specialist coming from the track, I was obviously playing a key role and I did my part quite well I think. I think it’s always nice to keep a jersey, let’s see what happens in the next few days with time bonuses. We’ll try our best."
