Kristoffer Halvorsen sprinted to third on stage five of the Tour of Norway after a strong team effort to bring the race back together in the final kilometres.

Halvorsen was edged out in a bunch kick by new race leader Alexander Kristoff (UAE Team Emirates), but still moves up to fourth overall and is now second in the points and young rider classifications.

Before the sprint trains came to the fore with two kilometres remaining, fantastic work on the front of the peloton from Team INEOS - most notably Ian Stannard, Michal Golas and Ben Swift - had brought the breakaway to heel.

The Team INEOS trio also put the pressure on the rest of the bunch as they took advantage of crosswinds within the final 20 kilometres to create several groups within the peloton as they were reeling in the breakaway duo of Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) and Marc HIrschi (Sunweb).

The final two kilometres saw the sprint trains line up and Halvorsen record his second podium of the race as Kristoff prevailed.
