Hayter retains lead despite crash

A gutsy Ethan Hayter was able to remount following a high-speed crash and retain the yellow jersey at the Volta ao Algarve.
The young Brit was pushing hard on course in Lagoa and looked set to significantly extend his overall advantage on the penultimate day. The Grenadier went down as his wheel slipped out on a fast left-hand corner. Despite the hard crash, Hayter was quickly back on a spare bike and continued his effort, eventually finishing an incredible ninth fastest.
That was enough to extend his lead by 12 seconds over Joao Rodrigues (W52/FC Porto) heading into Sunday's finale, which features the famed Alto do Malhao summit finish.
Carlos Rodriguez also impressed on the day with the 10th best time, while Sebastian Henao pushed hard to remain in eighth place on the GC, 1:18 behind his teammate.
