Vasil Kiryienka is in treatment for a cardiac anomaly.

The 37-year-old Belarusian, who is yet to race in 2019 to date, is currently undergoing treatment in the wake of a cardiac screening showing an anomaly.

Team Sky Doctor, Iñigo Sarriegui, told TeamSky.com: “All of our riders have a cardiac screening every year – and in Kiry’s screening we found an anomaly that required further investigation.

“Following tests, Kiry is currently undergoing treatment and he will remain sidelined until further notice.”

Coach Xabier Artetxe confirmed that Kiryienka will continued to be monitored before returning to racing, adding: “The doctors have told us to take caution for a period before Kiry resumes racing.

“He is still in this period now, so the doctors are looking after him and are monitoring his progress.

“We need to ensure Kiry is back to 100% before he returns to racing.”

Everyone at Team Sky wishes Kiry all the best for a speedy recovery.
