Luke Rowe capped off a fine start to his Classics campaign with a hard-fought third place at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne. Recap an absorbing race below.

As always, Michal Golas and Christian Knees played a crucial role in the early kilometres

The break took a while to form, but eventually nine riders went up the road

Lukasz Wisniowski needed a bit of TLC from the team car

It could have all been very different for Peter Sagan...

It all kicked off when Ian Stannard hit the front on the Oude Kwaremont and put the power down

Only a select few could follow Stannard's acceleration and an elite front group formed ahead of the finishing circuits

The attacks continued to fire and Luke Rowe did brilliantly to make the final selection

Unlucky for some?

Luke dug deep in the sprint, but he had to settle for third behind winner Sagan

It was some effort from the Welshman

'Cheers!'
