Michal Kwiatkowski took sixth place at Fleche Wallonne as the battle for the win once again came down to the final metres.

The Pole found himself in the thick of the fight for the victory on the famed steep slopes of the Mur de Huy, finishing on the same time as overall winner Marc Hirschi (Team Sunweb).

Ethan Hayter rode well to bring his INEOS Grenadiers teammate into the foot of the climb, after the team had ridden hard on the front throughout the day.

Cameron Wurf and Michal Golas set a tempo to ensure the breakaway could be pulled back, with the final rider, Mauri Vansevenant (Deceuninck-Quick-Step), caught with 1.5km to go.

Sebastian Henao was in position to follow the moves as accelerations went on the penultimate accent of the Mur de Huy. In the end the action would be decided with a late acceleration by Hirschi.
