Kwiato well-placed after Poland opener

Michal Kwiatkowski put in a savvy performance on the first stage of the Tour de Pologne to end the day fourth overall.
Kwiatkowski sealed a top 10 finish on a tough uphill sprint finish in Chełmwhich was won by Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain-Victorious), but moved into the top four thanks to bonus seconds collected during the stage.
The 30 year old was alert to the possibility of gaining time on his general classification rivals, sprinting to win the intermediate sprint in the closing stages to earn three bonus seconds.
Strong teamwork by the Grenadiers ensured Kwiato was well-protected on a tricky lead into the finish circuit, before the former World Champion contested the uphill, cobbled sprint to secure a strong start to his home race.
