Tom Pidcock battled to a well-deserved second place to record his fourth podium of the cyclocross season under the lights in Diegem.
Pidcock overtook Eli Iserbyt in the closing moments of the final lap, to then sprint to second as Mathieu van der Poel took the victory in the night race.
The Yorkshire rider started on the second row and was able to move through the field to join a front group that quickly detached itself from the bunch.
Pidcock then pushed the pace at the end of the second lap and reduced the group further, which then stabilised in the following laps.
He was then one of two riders able to react when Van der Poel attacked on lap four with the race-winning move, and chased the world champion with Iserbyt.
The battle for second came down to the final lap, when Pidcock made a late move on the inside of Iserbyt to overtake the Belgian, before sprinting to the line to secure his fourth podium of the season.
