Tom Pidcock sprinted to sixth place in Beverley as the INEOS Grenadiers looked to enliven stage three at the Tour of Britain.

With the day’s breakaway caught early, the team hit the front and launched a sequence of quick-fire attacks during the final 25 kilometres on the roads of East Yorkshire.

Ben Turner kicked things off, before counters from Luke Rowe and Connor Swift stretched out the bunch. Swift briefly found himself part of a small breakaway group, yet the race would ultimately regroup on the run-in.

Pidcock sprinted to sixth place at the line, with Olav Kooij (Jumbo-Visma) making it three consecutive stage wins to remain in the race lead.
