Tirreno-Adriatico – Stage 7: San Benedetto del Tronto (individual time trial), 10km

Wout Poels completed a strong showing at Tirreno-Adriatico with seventh place overall in Italy.
 
The Dutchman remained in the top-10 overall on the decisive final day, finishing two minutes and 42 seconds back on overall victor Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma). 
 
Filippo Ganna went down the ramp early and the Italian’s time held up well to place him 10th on the stage, making a strong comeback to the road following his track success.
 
Victor Campenaerts (Lotto Soudal) set the best time on the day, three seconds ahead of Alberto Bettiol (EF Education First) in San Benedetto del Tronto.
 
The maglia azzurra fight went right down to the wire with overnight leader Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) crossing the line to relinquish the race lead by a single second over Roglic.
