Safe passage through Tirreno opener

Geraint Thomas finished safely in Lido di Camaiore as stage one of Tirreno-Adriatico finished with a bunch sprint.
The team worked hard to protect the Welshman on the run-in, with Tao Geoghegan Hart and Salvatore Puccio setting the pace on the left-hand side of the road.
Filippo Ganna then used his time trial ability to stretch out the peloton, ensuring Thomas made it into the final three kilometres and also dodged a late crash.
At the finish it was Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) who arrived late to edge out the sprint, taking an early race lead in the process.
