Swift sixth as Rosa maintains GC place

Tour of Guangxi stage five: Liuzhou - Guilin, 212.2km

Ben Swift sprinted to sixth on stage five of Tour of Guangxi as Fernando Gavirira (UAE Team Emirates) took the victory on the longest stage of the race.

Diego Rosa maintains third overall as there was no change in the general classification, with David de la Cruz eighth, despite a push from the other GC contenders with 27 kilometres remaining.

Rosa and De la Cruz had to be alert on the final category one climb as a dangerous trio of Dani Martinez (EF Education First) , Tomasz Marczynski (Lotto Soudal) and Guillaume Martin (Wanty Group Gobert) counterattacked once the early break had been reeled in just before the summit.

Race leader Enric Mas (Deceunick-Quick Step) was able to react and the Team INEOS duo followed his move to create a small GC group.

However, the long flat section following the descent allowed the sprinters to rejoin the leaders and a group of 60 contested the final sprint into  Guilin which was won by Gaviria.

Overall standings:

1. Enric Mas (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) 19:04:32
2. Daniel Felipe Martinez (EF Education First) +5"
3. Diego Rosa (Team INEOS) +14"
4. Antwan Tolhoek (Jumbo-Visma) +22"
