Connor Swift produced a superb ride to claim third place and the bronze medal at the Gravel World Championships in Italy.
Riding in the colours of Great Britain, the Grenadier was quickly to the fore in the mammoth 169-kilometre showpiece event in Veneto.
Breaking into an initial group of six riders, Swift was on the right side of the crucial split as three riders went clear to contest the podium places.
Swift was able to limit his losses well and set a tempo for the final 25km, after becoming distanced on the steep ramps of the Viglio climb. Matej Mohoric (Slovenia) forged onwards, edging clear of Florian Vermeersch (Belgium), with the pair going on to take the top two spots.
Mohoric took the win by 45 seconds over the Belgian, with Swift coming home 3:40 back, holding off a chasing group led by Alejandro Valverde (Spain).
The worlds podium adds to a successful foray into gravel racing for Swift, following victory in The Gralloch gravel series race in May, in addition to second place at the British national championships.
