Team Sky rode to 11th place on a hotly contested second day at the Hammer Sportzone Limburg.

The Hammer Sprint event played out over eight laps of a 12.4-kilometre circuit around the Tom Dumoulin Bike Park.

The team’s five-man lineup – Leonardo Basso, Jon Dibben, Owain Doull, Chris Lawless and Pavel Sivakov – pushed hard in a bid to go clear off the front of the race.

However a frantic pace made it impossible for a break to be established, with the action coming back together for a series of bunch kicks.

Mitchelton-Scott emerged victorious on the day, 405 points ahead of Quick-Step Floors.

11th, combined with Friday’s fourth place in the Hammer Climb, means Team Sky will start Sunday’s Hammer Chase finale in seventh spot, as part of the final group. The team will begin 2:27 behind Quick-Step Floors.
