A unified team performance saw Team Sky claim third place on day two at Hammer Series Stavanger.

The Hammer Sprint saw more hard racing and tactical battles across 10 laps of the Norwegian circuit, with the team collecting an 800-point haul on the day.

Gianni Moscon pushed clear as part of a break to rack up a number of points, with Chris Lawless, Leonardo Basso and Michal Golas all contributing to the team’s points haul ahead of the final lap.

The action came back together for a bunch kick, and with double points on the line Kristoffer Halvorsen pulled off an impressive sprint to cross the line first, taking maximum points and elevating the team up a place into third.

Combined points from the Climb and Sprint events ensured Team Sky will set off in third place in the final group of Sunday’s Hammer Chase. They will look to hunt down Team Sunweb (starting 28 seconds ahead) and then Mitchelton-Scott (58 seconds ahead), with the first team across the line crowned overall winners.
