There were wet and windy conditions to contend with on the final stage of Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana.
Following his escapades in the breakaway on stage four, Vasil Kiryienka was preparing for a much flatter stage five which looked like it would be settled by a bunch sprint in Valencia.
Michal Kwiatkowski was also involved in Saturday's combative breakaways and he was again in a group of six riders who propelled themselves into a one minute lead within 20 kilometres of the flag dropping
Kwiatkowski's group were slowly reeled in by the peloton and their lead was dwindling when David De La Cruz attempted to leap across and join them.
With Kwiatkowski and David De La Cruz caught, Stefan Kung (BMC Racing) was out in front alone until the last 7km when the bunch finally stopped him spoiling the sprinters' fun
Conditions were difficult as the peloton headed towards the centre of Valencia and Team Sky arrived to the slippery finishing straight safely
