Tour of Guangxi - Stage 1 » Beihai › Beihai, 135.6km
Elia Viviani latched on to a perfect lead-out from the INEOS Grenadiers to claim victory on the opening stage of the Tour of Guangxi.
The Italian was able to edge past compatriot Jonathan Milan (Bahrain-Victorious) in the final metres to secure a brilliant win against a class field of sprinting talent.
Viviani was moved to the front with great timing by his team-mates. The Grenadiers launched a perfect lead-out, with Ethan Hayter driving into the final kilometre, before Jhonatan Narvaez piloted Viviani onto the right wheel.
The win also saw Elia move into an early race lead in China courtesy of bonus seconds on the line.
The stage had always looked like ending in a bunch kick, with three laps of the 45km circuit ticked off and the day's five-man break swept up with 16km to go.
