Filippo Ganna put in a battling ride to sit fourth overall heading into the final day at the Belgium Tour.
The Grenadier finished in a reduced, chasing peloton on the uphill Mur de Durbuy finale - setting up an exciting final day.
Ganna sits just 10 seconds back on the race lead, with compatriot Filippo Baroncini (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) moving into the jersey with a slender advantage courtesy of bonus seconds from the Golden Kilometre.
Stage victor Jenno Berckmoes (Lotto) elevated himself onto the overall podium, with a showdown set for the final day.
Connor Swift forged his way into a counter attack, which caught the original break with 67km to go. Ganna would eventually bridge across to the move, with Swift turning his attentions to chasing down the quartet ahead to limit their advantage.
Saturday also saw the penultimate stage of the Tour de Suisse, with Bob Jungels leading the team home in 23rd.
