Godon secures points jersey with second place

Dorian Godon finished in a close second place on the final day at the Volta a Catalunya, securing the Points jersey in Barcelona.

The Frenchman held on brilliantly as the peloton ticked off laps of the Montjuic finishing circuit at a relentless pace. With a final lead-out from Oscar Onley, Godon opened up his sprint early but was narrowly edged out by Brady Gilmore (NSN Cycling Team) at the line.

With incredible consistency across a week which produced two stage wins, two second places and four days in the overall race lead, Godon wrapped up the points jersey comfortably, continuing his strong form.

Onley was very active on the punchy circuit, following a number of accelerations as the laps ticked off. The Scot would ultimately finish in 12th place overall as the GC contenders all crossed the line together. Embret Svestad-Bardseng once again produced another strong ride, helping keep the race together and driving on into the final lap alongside Laurens De Plus.

Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) finished safely to wrap up overall victory, 1:22 ahead of Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious).
