INEOS Grenadiers kicked off their European season with a sprint finish on the first stage of the Volta Comunitat Valenciana.
A day for the sprinters with a flat 160km to tackle, Magnus Sheffield was part of a select group inside the final 30km, catching an early three man breakaway.
As the peloton came back together, a last gasp effort from Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) saw him gain a 30 second advantage.
Kim Heiduk did a stellar job on the front of the peloton, making the catch and providing a perfect lead out for Ben Turner to the sprint.
Turner was first to open up the sprint into Torreblanca, but kicked just slightly too early, with Biniam Girmay (NSN Cycling Team) taking the win on the line.
Tomorrow will see the riders tackle a 17km individual time trial from Carlet to Alginet.
