Grenadiers second and fourth in Slovenia and Switzerland

Jhonatan Narvaez sprinted to second place in stage three of the Tour of Slovenia, after a combative ride from the Ecuadorian. 

The day would come down to the final climb, with Ben Healy (EF Education) attacking from afar to put the peloton under pressure. Narvaez would be quick to react and held the Irishman’s wheel to the top. 

Then, the duo and a the group behind would coalesce on the descent. Jhonny was active on the front, marking attacks and putting in a few digs of his own. 

The winning move would come from Giovanni Aleotti, who would go clear near the foot of the descent, and hold his advantage to the line. Narvaez would win the sprint for second behind, and subsequently move up to second on GC.

Over in Switzerland, a shortened stage would be ridden at over 60 km/h to the foot of the final climb. After a fierce pace up the ‘Blatten’ mountain, the group was quickly reduced to four riders. Leader Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) would attack and get a gap, while Egan Bernal dug deep to try and drop the remaining duo. 

While this plan did not quite come to fruition, Egan would finish the day fourth, extending his gap on fourth overall. Tom Pidcock would also climb well, to finish sixth on the stage, moving him up to seventh overall.
