Ben Turner sprinted to fifth place in a hard-fought bunch kick on stage 19 of the Vuelta a Espana.
The Brit once again had some superb backing from his teammates on the run-in, with a huge final turn from Filippo Ganna, dropping him into the final kilometre to contest the sprint.
Fifth place continued some strong and consistent sprint performances at the Spanish Grand Tour for Turner, with Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin – Deceuninck) ultimately taking the victory on the day in Guijuelo.
The stage began with just two riders in early move, with that duo becoming reduced to a lone attacker with 135km to go.
The INEOS Grenadiers came to the fore briefly after the intermediate sprint in Salamanca, with Michal Kwiatkowski pushing on into final 50km. The upping of the pace saw Jakub Otruba (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA) reeled in and the break caught early.
With the threat of echelons the pace increased on the run-in, with positioning key, but ultimately there was not enough wind to truly shake up the peloton.
Some opportunistic riding saw Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) extend his race lead out to 44 seconds after securing four bonus seconds at the intermediate sprint. Egan Bernal finished safely in the bunch to remain 16th on GC heading into the final weekend.

Over in Canada, a strong breakaway effort from Artem Shmidt showed the potential in the young rider at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec.
An early break of four kicked off proceedings in Quebec, gaining a six minute gap, before a group of five eventually followed suit with 73km to go.
With 48km remaining, Artem Shmidt attacked strongly from the peloton to lead the charge over to the chasers. The group managed to continue to work to form a front group of 12.
On the penultimate lap of the punchy course, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates - XRG) attacked strongly from the peloton up a steep incline as Shmidt dropped back to the group.
Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling) eventually took the win after a well timed attack from the break to cross the line solo.
