Sam Watson kicked off the Deutschland Tour with an agonisingly close second place in the prologue.
Watson put down a blistering time of 3:32 over the three kilometre course in Essen, but was just unable to knock Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Mobility) off the hot seat, clocking less than a second behind.
The result also sees the young Brit sit second in the youth category behind Wærenskjold.
AJ August was the next Grenadier to come home, with Artem Shmidt just behind sporting his new USA national champion kit.

Renewi Tour
Ben Turner sprinted to sixth place on a flat first stage at the Renewi Tour in Belgium.
Riders battled the wind throughout the 182.6km stage, with a bunch finish seeing Turner well delivered by the team to fire to sixth place.
A group of 14 was established early on, and with 25km remaining, the break started attacking each other in a bid to widen the 30 second advantage to the peloton.
The front group was caught with five kilometres remaining, with the Grenadiers straight on the front as Ben Swift pulled the peloton to deliver Turner to the line.
Turner was just slightly boxed in in the final 300m, but managed to take sixth place in good company behind winner European champion Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step).
