Hammer Series Limburg – Hammer Sprint, 99.2km

Team INEOS put in a consistent performance across the Hammer Sprint to take sixth place in Limburg.

Scoring on all but one of the eight laps, Filippo Ganna, Owain Doull and Diego Rosa put up points across the day.

Ganna went clear in an early move and was quickly joined by team-mate Doull. The Welshman was part of the longest breakaway of the day, claiming points across four consecutive laps, including the double points of lap five.

The team moved to as high as fourth out on the road before slipping back. Rosa arrived on the scene to make his way into a late move on the closing pair of laps, ensuring the team solidified sixth.

The end result, combined with 11th in Friday’s Hammer Climb, means the team narrowly missed out on the finalist group. In Sunday’s Hammer Chase the team will lead off the runner-up group, 30 seconds ahead of Mitchelton-Scott in the battle for ninth.
